We have four PhD projects for October 2026 competing for various studentships.

  1. Identifying signatures of host specificity in protist parasite genomes.

    Funded by the University of Bath’s URSA scheme and in collaboration with Dr. Vicky Hunt (University of Bath). Deadline: December 3rd, 2025.

  2. Decoding Protist Parasites in Aquaculture with Single-Cell Sequencing.

    Funded by the SWBio DTP and in collaboration with Dr. Charlotte Davies (Swansea University) and Prof. Ed Feil (University of Bath). Deadline: December 3rd, 2025.

  3. Ecological and Evolutionary Insights from Polar Protists.

    Funded by the GW4+ DLTP and in collaboration with Prof. Melody Clark (British Antarctic Survey) and Prof. Tom Williams (University of Bath). Deadline: January 8th, 2026.

  4. Ecological Surveillance using High-Throughput Quantitative Imaging.

    Funded through the Red-ALERT NERC CDT and in collaboration with Dr. Isabelle Fournier (UKCEH), Dr. Lindsay Newbold (UKCEH), Prof. Matthew Wills (University of Bath), and Dr. Sophie Pitois (Cefas). Deadline: January 16th, 2026.
